Kate Tucker & the Sons of Sweden are a Seattle-based indie quintet formed in 2006. Their self-titled debut was produced by Ryan Hadlock and features Nic Danielson of The Kindness Kind and Seattle folk luminary Damien Jurado. Their songs have been featured on iTunes Singer-Songwriter page and on the playlists of Starbucks stores nationwide. In 2008, the band toured nationally in support of their album, showcasing at SXSW, Bumbershoot, and CMJ.
The band is perhaps best known for their two contributions to compilations produced by Hear Music record label, 2008's Have You Heard and 2009's Sweetheart.
Their song "Everything Went Down" has been featured on ABC Family's Make It or Break It and on the WB's One Tree Hill. The official music video for "Everything Went Down" was directed and filmed by Miriam Bennett.
Their song "Where are You (I am Already Gone)" was played on United States of Tara Season 3 Episode 2.[1]
In 2009 Tucker left the Sons of Sweden to work on what would become the album White Horses, released by Red Valise in 2010. Bassist Ed O'Brien and guitarist Mark Isakson continue to work with Tucker on studio recordings and occasional west coast shows.
In 2010, Tucker took the lead role in a feature film entitled "Everything Went Down," marking her acting debut. The film was based in part on Tucker's songs, and also stars Vancouver theatre artist Noah Drew. "Everything Went Down" was written and directed by Dustin Morrow. The film is expected in theaters sometime in 2012.
On April 7, 2011 Kate Tucker and the Sons of Sweden reunited to play what could be called their final farewell show at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard, Washington.
